A "kubo" is the Filipino term for a small house that is typically a single-room dwelling where most of the family activities happen in one space. Our play on the term reflects our goal of creating a space on the web where small organizations can easily store their data.

About Akubo

Akubo was born out of a need we had at a small non-profit for an easy to use database we can access from anywhere using any computer. Developed in partnership with Percworks, Akubo started as an in-house project created for Tapulanga Foundation, a small globally dispersed non-profit organization. From day one, we built it to be used across the globe by various individuals all working together virtually and seamlessly.

The partnership between Percworks and Tapulanga Foundation allows us to blend together the best of our values. As a small business in the US, Percworks is working to help individuals, families and small businesses use their computers at home, work and their business. As a small non-profit in the Philippines, Tapulanga Foundation is working to uplift the lives of those who were born with less through educational scholarships, healthcare assistance and micro-credit loans.

We hope you will find Akubo as essential for your organization as we have. We encourage you to send us suggestions so we can keep working on making Akubo even better, smarter and easier --- all at an amazing price.

From Robin (founder of Percworks)

"My sister Mic runs a small non-profit in the Philippines, and I help her with fundraising and over-all planning from the US. We initially started with Excel then we moved to Access but over time it became very frustrating to deal with our setup.

We looked for an online database solution and most of the services we found were geared for medium to larger organizations. So we decided to build our own solution starting with a very basic online database and over time we added more features we needed.

Over time the software just got better and better and we thought why not share this very useful tool with other small organizations and businesses that operate the same way we do. And as we started sharing the software, users began telling us that the more they used Akubo, the more they discovered its benefits."
